In the commercial sector, alcohol ethoxylates are an important class of compounds. The reaction between two main categories of compounds, the hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chain and the oleophilic fatty alcohol rich in carbon atoms produces fatty alcohol ethoxylate. This group of chemicals having water-hating and water-loving properties is surfactants. They enhance the mixing of oil and water due to the presence of contrasting interfaces within the same compound.
Usefulness of Surfactants A fatty alcohol ethoxylate is a “green” surfactant meaning they are environmentally friendly. We use ethylene oxide and fatty alcohol to produce a high-quality product with different ethylene oxide and carbon chain compositions. They use this as a hard surface surfactant and used with different chemicals in shampoos, dishwashing, cleaners, textile processing, leather, hair gel, and detergents. Group of Anionic Surfactants In the anionic category, fatty alcohol sulfate dominates. We get these through the interaction of chlorosulfonic acid with a fatty alcohol. A suitable base will then neutralize it and we get the final product. The base used can be either magnesium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide. Another way to get this is by using sulfur trioxide. There is no salt formed in the final product which is why the manufacturer will add it after they make the surfactant. The length of the carbon chain in the starting fatty alcohol is important as it determines the nature of the final product. By increasing the length of the carbon chain, we make the resultant surfactant more “irritable” and decrease its viscosity. Also, the solubility decreases. Effect of the Length of the Carbon Chain Solubility and viscosity are inversely related. This is true for all varieties of surfactants. Through this mechanism that makes fatty alcohol sulfate, the foaming capacity decreases as the carbon length increases. This is why they use the longer chain sulfates to make emulsifiers or cream shampoos. Another factor to consider is the ethoxylation that produces less irritating surfactants.

Most people, older than 45 years of age, use dyes to cover their grey hair. When they use hair colorants, they have high expectations from their brand. This is why most hair color manufacturers use a color protection agent. The hair colour protector formulation contains reagents such as Methoxycinn Amidopropyl Behentrimonium Chloride that helps preserve the color and enhance the strength of the follicles. Also, you will need conditioners and moisturizers to help improve the quality of your hair.
Preserve Hair Health When we shampoo the hair it goes through a lot of stress due to cleaning action. While undergoing repeated washes, hair loses its moisture content and natural lubricants and this makes the scalp dry. To avoid this, one must use conditioners and moisturizers that have nutrients to give life back to the scalp. The use of hair colour protector formulation will keep the color in the hair for a long time. It is one of the best ways to preserve hair and avoid spending lots of money on beauty products. Get Good Looking Hair with Conditioners The best hair conditioning agent is one that improves the quality of the hair. This means that the hair looks and feels better after applying the conditioner. It becomes bouncy with a lustrous appearance and the roots of the hair get strengthened. Types of conditioning include the following: ● Humectants ● Emollients ● Fatty alcohols ● Cationic surfactants Humectants are a hair conditioning agent that reduces the water loss in the hair. It does this by creating hydrogen bonds that bind to the water. Waxes, silicones, oils, and fats are emollients either or natural or synthetic in origin that have a hydrophobic nature. Cationic surfactants form a film on the surface of the hair that helps protect it. It improves the surface properties of the shampoo or soap so that there is better foam creation. Fatty alcohols build a viscous medium that helps hold the water and improve the stability of the product. |
